These are the rules for using Cabin Climate, a free app from Ankur Fadia, an individual developer in Virginia ("we" on this page). By using the app you agree to them. They are short on purpose.

Free, as is

Cabin Climate is free. It is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise that it will work every time, or at all, or that it will be available when you need it.

Your safety comes first

• Do not use the app while driving. Park first.
• Cabin Climate is a convenience. It is not for emergencies, and it is not a way to protect a child, a pet or anyone else left in a car. Never rely on it for that.
• Commands can fail. A car may not wake up, may be out of signal, or may refuse a command. The app tells you what happened, but you are the one who knows your car and its surroundings.
• Unlock only a car you own or have permission to use, and only when you are there.

Things outside our control

• The app works through Tesla's own interface for developers. Tesla can change it, limit it or stop it at any time, and then the app may stop working or change.
• Your car, your phone, your watch and your mobile connection all have to cooperate.
• For now, Cabin Climate works only with cars in the US and Canada.

Limits that keep it free

Every request we send to Tesla costs us money, so there are limits. Each account can use up to 40 commands, 8 wake-ups and 60 status reads per day. A day runs on UTC time, and the app shows what is left and when it resets. Each car has a daily limit too, and so does the whole service.

If the whole service runs out of its monthly capacity, starting climate and other actions that cost us a request to Tesla pause until the 1st of the next month (UTC). The status you already have, deleting your data and managing your connections keep working. Turning climate off and locking stay available a little longer. The Tesla app always still works. We may change the limits.

Using it fairly

• Use it for your own vehicle, or one you have the owner's permission to control.
• Do not try to break, overload or reverse engineer the service, or use it to send automatic or repeated commands without a tap of yours.
• We may suspend or end access for anyone who does, or who puts the service at risk.
• You may stop at any time and delete your data.

The developer of Cabin Climate says this about the app: Works with Tesla vehicles. Cabin Climate is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Tesla, Inc. Tesla is a trademark of Tesla, Inc.

Our responsibility

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss of or damage to a vehicle or its contents, arising from your use of the app. For anything else, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app, which is zero. Nothing here limits a right you have under law that cannot be limited.

Changes and law

We may update these terms and will post the new version here with a new effective date. If you keep using the app after that, you accept the new terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and disputes belong in its courts.
