Cabin Climate is a free app for Android phones and Wear OS watches. One tap warms up or cools down your car before you get in.

What it does

• Big Warm up, Cool down and Off buttons on your phone and on your watch.
• Comfort mode picks warm, cool or neutral for you from the outside temperature.
• Defrost, seat heat, steering wheel heat, lock and unlock.
• If the car is asleep, the app wakes it and shows you how long that is taking.

How it works

1. Install the app and sign in with your Tesla account on Tesla's own sign-in page. We never see your password.
2. Add Cabin Climate's key to your car from the Tesla app. The car then accepts our commands.
3. Tap a button. Every command comes from a tap of yours, never from a timer or a location trigger on our side.

Free, with no ad network

The app is free. On the More screen of the phone app there is one small card, marked Ad, that promotes QuickVisitMD, National Course Portal or Aural Iris, businesses connected to the app's developer. It never appears on the Home screen or while a command is running. The watch shows at most one line of text, one day a week. These promos are built into the app, load nothing from the internet and send nothing about you or your car. There are no ad networks, no analytics and no tracking tools. You can switch them off in Settings. Read the privacy policy.

Good to know

• Cabin Climate works with cars in the US and Canada for now.
• The app never asks for your location, and we never read or store your car's location.
• A sleeping car can take up to a minute to wake, and weak signal can stop it. The app tells you plainly when that happens.
